The space-saving bunk room

The brief was simple: the boys desperately wanted bunk beds, but in a room where every possible location blocked either the door, window or valuable floor space. The solution was to rethink the room completely. By removing the original fireplace and designing a bespoke bunk bed across the full width of the room, we created hidden storage, improved the flow of the space and gave the boys exactly what they wanted. While removing the fireplace was a big decision, it proved key to unlocking the room's full potential and allowed the space to function far more effectively for family life. A Japanese wave mural, inspired by the family's love of Japan and sea-life, completes the scheme and ties the room into the wider design story running throughout the house.
